Hayne said the city won’t dictate whether the arena has “5,000” or “15,000 seats,” so the partner would build the facility to fit the team, though he added Surrey’s growing population would provide a “built-in fan base” for whichever team calls it home.

its pie in the sky thinking ... and the NHL probably (ya think ? lol) doesnt have an appetite to have the "Surrey Eagles versus New York Rangers" appearing on the marquis of MSG any time soon (like ever - lol)

but when you compare it to Glendale ... Surrey has a bigger population, the new arena would be steps from a rapid transit station (when it works lol), plus its pretty much at the geographical centre of the GVRD

people that drive to the games would probably come back to the parking lot and their cars would be without tires plus theyd have to dodge bullets but hey ... thats what a quarter of the US fans face on a gameday

I don't think the NHL would blink twice at a. Second Vancouver area team over a second Toronto lol... I think it would be great. Just to keep all the rioters where they came from
