I thought that was near you. That was a big one. It was a uncompleted seniors residence that was 80%? Done.

That was a violent wind and rain storm last night and this morning the crows were gathering at Metrotown like it was a Hitchcock movie. Is the end nigh?

Just in time for the playoffs...

The B.C. government announced Wednesday that the province's grocery stores will be permitted to sell alcohol beginning April 1, 2015.

Other changes going into effect that day affect government B.C. Liquor Stores, which will be allowed to offer walk-in coolers, to stay open for longer hours and to open Sundays.

the longer hours and the sunday openings are good for the consumer but the grocery store sales are a bit of a sham ... there wont actually be many grocery stores ABLE to open up for beer and wine sales

what the government did (on advice of the LDB) is delay the date allowing grocery stores to sell beer and wine sufficiently enough for the LDB to open their own new micro stores in areas where grocery stores were which meant the grocery stores located in the immediate area (i forget what the no go zone distance was ... 1.5km's ??? :noidea: ) could not and can not sell beer and wine

/my sister may or may not work in store operations at LDB :spy:

distance is 5 kms ... and there is this ... The moratorium on the number of private liquor store licences will continue, as previously committed so the best bet is grocery stores will have to buy up the existing licenses of small cold beer and wine stores ... that is ... IF grocers think the increased fixed costs of creating a separately enclosed wine store within their grocery store is economically viable

What the hell? Gas is $65 dollars a barrel right now. Last time it was that price, I remember gas being about $0.70 per litre. It's still $1.17 a litre!

It supposedly takes about 6 weeks for price changes to filter through the system
Unless oil goes up, that is. Then it's same day.

Batten down the hatches folks; some heavy rain and flooding could be coming your way. Courtenay is under siege right now with more on the way.

The Victoria and Vancouver areas are also now bracing for their third big rainstorm system, bringing with it winds of 90 km/h and up to 70 mm of rain today alone.

And making the situation worse is that a storm surge will reach its peak when a ‘king tide’ hits the southwest part of the province this morning. King tides occur when the sun and moon’s gravitational forces double up while the moon is closest to Earth in its orbit.

This celestial combination could bring with it extensive flooding to low-lying areas and so residents with waterfront properties have put up walls of sandbags in anticipation of today’s forecasted weather events.
