Phil is scaring me with some of the aggressive shots he's attempting. That is how he has lost the US Open in the past. The fairway wood from the rough made no sense, especially for a guy who is as magical as he is with the wedges.

Amazing Day hits a beauty out of the bunker and shanks an easy put.

Got a feeling were gonna see him go on a tear of majors soon. Hes really money in these big ones

To tie, Phil will have to birdie the 18th... which NOBODY has done yesterday or today. Less than one quarter of the golfers even making a GIR here, which is insane.

Gents from the UK have won 3 of the last 4 now. You have to go back to 1911 for the last time you could say that.

Congrats Justin Rose!

If I had to pick a guy likely to win I think Justin Rose and Nicolas Colsaerts are playing some great golf, though they need to make some putts.

(And thanks for making me look like I know what I'm talking about for once in a blue moon)

Canadian friends...

Mike Weir was one of only 4 guys under par for the day and slipped into the top 30. Not too shabby.

At what point does he overtake Greg Norman as the Chokemaster General?

That short par 3 hole that Lefty bogied is where he lost the tourney. He didn't have to make a birdie on the hole, but par was mandatory. Give credit to Justin Rose though, he made some great shots down the stretch to capture his first major.

I'm just waiting for the day Mickelson goes "oh right... I'm right-handed!" and then starts winning everything. Obviously a great golfer, but needs some tips on how you hustle people.

I still think Norman is the bigger choker and always will be because for starters, Norman was a runner-up in every major multiple times. And Phil has 4 majors to Norman's four.

But the biggest reasons is - Phil isn't really choking - he's finishing 2nd in majors not suited to his game or where his course management (part of who he is) causes those things to happen. Phil has largely been the runner-up in the US Open, which is a tournament not well suited to his game. The US Open is about hitting fairways, staying out of trouble, and being consistent. Phil is spectacular at times, but not the most consistent guy out there. He's #158 in driving on Tour right now. So, I don't think it's really "choking" when you succeed at places where your game is better suited and you fail at places where your game/playing style does NOT fit the tournament. He's in a tourney like the US Open because he's a pressure player and makes great shots in his short game to overcome deficiencies in his driving that would keep most players from ever even being in contention.

He's won at places where his style fits well (Masters, PGA) and lost where it doesn't (US Open, British).

Norman also "lost" a couple of majors to some miracle shots (iirc Bob Tway out of a bunker for the PGA and Larry Mize with the miracle chip at the Masters).
