Lesson learned at the hockey game today;

Our goalie had covered a puck and the opposing team kept poking at it and eventually knocked it in. Ref waved it off. He went and told the other bench that there was no goal and their coach started yelling.

Then he came by to our bench and told me "I saw him cover it, and was getting ready to blow it dead when they poked it out, No goal."

So I said to him, " Thanks for that, how about a penalty next time? This isn't the first time they've hit him late." He nodded and skated off. A few minutes later at the end of the period, the same kid shot the puck at the goal after the buzzer. He got an unsportsmanlike penalty for it. The ref penalized the kid again for hitting the goalie after the whistle later in the third. And gave him an official warning after the game. Funny thing, and I don't know if it was related, one of our guys laid a solid check along the boards, and extended his elbow on the opponent's head and put him down. Really could have been called, but he let it go. And he had to see it, because he was between me and the play and I saw it.

Moral of the story - show the officials respect, and you just might benefit. Yell at them and they will not let you get away with anything.
