Not a huge fan of this song (although I certainly don't hate it), but that's not the emphasis here. The fact is -- it was recorded, mixed and mastered completely on an iPad, using only iPad plugins and software; how fucking cool and awesome is that??!!

Perhaps, gone are the days when you'd spend upwards of 10G to produce a high quality, radio ready demo. Now - for under 1K - (aside from personal equipment), a radio friendly recording be done. And for that 1K, you own the iPad and related software, meaning that subsequent costs come down significantly.

I've been monkeying around with some of this new mixing and mastering software that's on the iPad and holy fuckoli, is the shit ever dope. I'm barely familiar with the stuff but already, the quality of my mixes has rose infinitely.

Those same musicians probably have massive vinyl collections, because, you know, vinyl sounds so much better.

Just the modern version of dropping a few songs on a cassette, just sounds WAAAY better.
But as long as everything is on a tiny MP3, it won't replace studio quality sound just yet.

But 10 years from now, who knows. Once digital completely replaces the CD as the CD replaced the cassette/vinyl. The home digital tech has certainly come a long, long, long, long way.
