On the radio the other day they explained the origin of the "Carrots help you see in the dark" myth. Apparently during WW2, the Nazis were having unlimited success night-bombing England, until all of a sudden the English were shooting them out of the sky without issue. The solution was, of course, radar, but to keep this new technology a secret, the British explained their new-found success on carrots.

Haven't verified the story, but pretty awesome if true.

Actually carrots cannot improve a person's vision. Their abundance of vitamin A, however, helps to promote healthy eyes.
