I could not believe how much damage was done to that fence. Amazing that more people in the stands weren't seriously hurt. One trackside official and two others had to go to the hospital. A 10 foot section of fence landed in the crowd. Plus several pounds of carbon fiber shards.

It's also pretty impressive that those cars withstand all that. Dario Franchitti, the driver the car in the fence, has a concussion and a broken ankle. Not long ago, he would not have survived that.

Fracnhitti's wife, actress Ashley Judd, immediately rushed to her husband's side. "Thank you for the prayers for @dariofranchitti I have only clothes on my back & the dogs but that's all that we need & we are on our way," the Divergent star tweeted.

Franchitti, 40, and Judd, 45, announced their separation in January after more than 11 years of marriage. It's unclear if the couple has since reconciled or if they simply remain on good terms.
