Thanks, I really like the top one in particular. I don't think it could have been better in any facet: timing, framing, or angle.

Agreed. Great depth of field and the varying reactions of the 3 subjects is perfect, especially the total dejection of the Cubs' base runner. Baseball lends itself to good photography more than most sports, partly because you generally know where the point of action is going to be.

NL ball is a lot better, I think. The ballparks are a lot more pitcher friendly, so teams really have to string hits together to get runs across. I think it adds that extra suspense dynamic.

I've been a fan of teams in both leagues and can't say I have much preference one way or the other

I like the added strategy and "small ball" of the NL, but the average fan is probably not that into that. I don't know that it adds more drama though. When you get a lead of 4-5 runs in the NL, the game is usually over. I think big comebacks are much more likely in the AL. But I guess to your point the games in the NL are often tighter? I don't know. I like both.

I can totally see a day when Major League Baseball decides to nix the pitcher in the batting lineup. I wonder what percentage of little leagues have a DH or not.

Baseball players have enough time to scratch their balls as it is. We definitely don't need this.

I wasn't suggesting it. Just saying it would be a different game today if this were the case. I imagine you'd still have a lot of guys playing both sides, but you'd probably have a fair number of specialists as well. You'd see more pinch runners and pinch hitters. Hall of Famers that never hit a ball. Not saying it would be better. Just interesting how subtle choices in rules can have a huge impact on how they game is played, players developed, etc.
