youre right about the bold ... i dont think that Deanna mentioned it was built as a post apocalyptic safe zone ... unless i was drunk ... thought she said it was just a gated community that was built and that people could buy their dream home for 800K
I understand the group all wanting to stay together in the same house, but couldn't they have spread out around the house instead of everyone crowded together on the floor?

I remember something about an architect and her mentioning erecting the walls. So if that's the case, then they presumably had weeks or more likely months with insecure borders. And we've seen many places overrun - military installations, prisons, and even a non-fenced large farm!!!
So (1) I still think they ANYONE in this world would have to be "hard" to survive, whether it's to get through the initial zombie rush or to fend off marauders that want to take what you have. So that just seems like bad writing.
Nope. Not until the end of NEXT season...do you think maybe something else will be revealed by seasons end that will answer why they still have to go on supply runs ?![]()
Good point about building the walls post-ZA. I will need to pay particular attention to Deanna's explanation when I re-watch later this week.Fair enough, but we've seen military zones overrun by the zombies. So even if it was stocked from the beginning, how would those military places not hold but this one does?
I thought they built the walls post-apocalypse, or am I wrong about that.
sure I think they were initially "hard" (i said pardon) but we saw how soft Ricks group members became (i said pardon again) after they themselves got settled for an extended period of time in the prison and thought they got rid of the Governor and were safe ... maybe they were able to fight off the initial enemies/walker hordes ... Im eager to find out more about the 3 people who had been banished from Alexandria
it sounded like the wall building process was an ongoing project led by Deannas architect husband ... maybe it didnt get fully completed until alot of the larger threats were gone from the area
BUT about those outer walls ... did my eyes deceive me? are the steel support braces on the outside of the wall????

I think the most important thing she said was that Virginia was effectively evacuated very early. I think that acts as a relative catch-all.
I did not catch that at the time, but you are absolutely right. The supports ARE on the outside. Rick left through the main gate, then went to inspect the outside of the wall and he put some weight on one of the supports.BUT about those outer walls ... did my eyes deceive me? are the steel support braces on the outside of the wall????
The last 2 episodes, in particular, have been very good. I was worried how the show would progress from this point on, but I am optimistic that they can make the transition now.Overall, I think this 1/2 season has been really good though. Maybe my favorite 1/2 season aside from the prison/Governor saga.
I was getting a little tired of the plot device of 'we gotta rescue that person that was separated/lost/taken from the main group.'
When they are in one place for a longer period of time is when the series has often been at it's best (the farm, the prison, etc.) and when we get the most from these characters.

Wow. Cant believe I missed that one. Clear production mistake. I don't remember what the walls looked like in the comics... I will need to look that up.
Assuming the wall was built post-ZA (and it certainly looks like it) they said that Reg Monroe, Deanna's husband, was an architect. He would know where to put the supports. What makes you say its a "clear" production mistake?
May just be a clue that those running things in alexandria arent as smart as we first thought
The writers planted that seed in my mind with how out to lunch deannas son seemed when they went outside the wall
And i wouldnt just blanket compare tv wall with comic book wall. The writers can go down a different road

lf they address the bad wall design in-show (only in regards to the supports on the wrong side) I will agree that it is just stupidity on the part of the Alexandrians. If they do not address it, it is bad production.
He brought up the point of climbing the beams, but he did not say anything about the supports not assisting in preventing walkers from pushing the wall down (a major issue they had at the prison).they did ... rick said he could climb up the beams (from the outside) ... thats why he wanted to step up a perimeter patrol
and get a sniper in the "watchtower" to scope out people that might be approaching ... instead of the visual deterrent of propping up a rifle to make it look like someone is up there lol
