Also, as the plot lines are splitting up and there are multiple stories to follow, I keep wondering what is going on with Rick Grimes and co. and also if khaleesi has made it across the Narrow Sea.

Chant with me, people!!!

Com-bine the shows! Com-bine the shows! Com-bine the shows! Com-bine the shows...

Agree.

Didn't they say, quite emphatically, that they were not going to split the group up this season? Well, that ended up being pretty much complete bunk.

i wouldnt describe it as survival skills per se ... intelligence that can be used to help everyone survive ... yes

This.

Risking spoiling (I really don't think this is spoilish), Eugene becomes a very important character in the comics. He is a super-smart dude, and as long as he is safe, he is a HUGE asset to whatever group has him.

Its already probably in the same TV universe as Breaking Bad. In an early episode someone found blue meth when searching a car. Just have Jesse and Badger drop by.

The Governor mentioned a guy named "Heisenberg", among other names in season 3. If I remember correctly, the context was that he was naming people that Woodbury had lost.

I also remember it being pointed out somewhere that the car Glenn used to escape from Atlanta in season 1 had a BB connection as well. I believe it was the car that Walt bought for Flynn.

Not true. The verbatim line from the season opener was...

"NOBODY is splitting up this season... at least not until the 5th episode!"

Which I thought was shoddy writing and made it difficult to suspend disbelief when the characters are acknowledging they are on a TV show.

He also claims to "know things". I'm sure Rick sees the value in that.

When you look at it that way, he is completely worthless.

I mean Rick says "Things" AT LEAST once per episode. He must be an expert in "things". Right?

Not a bad episode tonight. On its own, nothing spectacular, but pretty important as in terms of the big picture.

Interesting that the van managed to land upright. Thought for sure it was going to land front end first or upside down, and that would be the cause of Carol's injury.

Next week's episode looks really good and I believe it will include all 3 groups. Should be a nice set-up for the midseason finale.

So did Carol get hit on purpose or was that purely accidental? Also looks like it will be Noah that was in the woods with Daryl.

Pretty impressive visuals of the destroyed city. The production values have gotten better as the series has progressed.

Carol and Daryl are geniuses. They allow themselves to get trapped in a bad location and have to ride a car off an elevated highway.

I don't think she got hit on purpose, but I'm pretty sure they hit her on purpose.

idk ... they run her over so they can take her back to the hospital and use valuable resources to treat her? :noidea:

she did have a weapon so maybe the driver thought that would be the only way to incapacitate her and bring her in to turn her into a slave

I think they did the same thing with Beth. They are on the hunt for weak wards, and doctors it seems.

Yeah, I think they knock them out 1st. Then bring them back to the hospital and let the doctor and Dawn sort out the pros and cons of using resources to save them with Dawn making the final call. If the person is not deemed worth using resources on to save, they just let them die and no big loss from their perspective.

Also the clip from next week's episode that appeared on TTD last night, hinted that certain resources may not be as scarce as Dawn and others would have some believe. It could just be a convenient way of discarding patients that she doesn't consider ideal candidates to save and/or a way of controlling people.

I agree that they injure people, then nurse them back to health. Then they owe the hospital something.
IMO, Carol will be in trouble because she's too strong of a person, they want weak people that they can control.

So...they had better get back and save her before too long.

for sure its obvious that they are injuring/capturing people but ... intentionally running someone over with a car and "knocking them out" are 2 different things, no?

judge: "sir you are charged with intentionally hitting this person with your car, do you have anything to say for yourself?"
driver: "I was only trying to knock them out"

seems a bit too forceful if you want to have the victim work as your slave ... and the rehab would probably be lengthy ... but hell ... maybe Carol can become the best quadriplegic orderly working at Grady memorial :noidea:

So let me get this straight ..... Beth is being held by the governess er um the female cop. While a strange mysterious black dude escaped and is now helping Rick save Maggie and Glen..dammit I mean Carol .......er Beth in a stronghold....... All Noah needs is a katana and we are back in season 3 :)

I knew something was bothering me with the Beth story line. I just found it.. That being said I've enjoyed these episodes a fair bit

Are you saying Season 5 Beth = Season 3 Andrea?

I was sort of thinking that too. Other than a few obvious differences.
