I agree with you, but the show was built on horror and action. These last few eps have been all introspection and character-drama.

I understand how some fans will be turned off by that.

Oh, I get what folks are saying. I disagree, but I get it. Like I said, I'm a bit surprised myself that I liked these as much as I did.

i dont think I said I disliked them. I liked them. I guess Im being critical of trying to learn the ultimate goal/plot/destination while these 2 were just getting fan fav Daryl some extra screen time (hes not a great actor) with cutie beth. but you guys are right

I think they have been bad episodes. I wonder if they are being cheap and only using some of the actors for limited episodes. I like Beth and I like Daryl but a whole episode about them was a bad idea IMO. As soon as they had the musical beginning yesterday I had a bad feeling about it. So much filler. People walking down roads and train tracks.

At times the show is great so I will stick with it, but if the last season was the first I would have given up. Seriously I timed it in the first episode back Carl was eating pudding for 26 minutes.

I don't even care that much about action and horror. I very much enjoy the character-drama and plot building of the series. I didn't mind last night's episode at all and I actually really liked the Governor's episodes. That being said, I found the 2nd half premiere and last week's to be extremely boring beyond belief. Too focused on too few characters. Combine those 2 episodes into 1, cut out some of the filler, and you probably have a decent episode (forget about how it doesn't really work chronologically).

That is the part of any show I enjoy as well. If anything, I think there are just too many zombies at times.

Frankly, I thought this week's episode was amazing. The intro. of Bob's back story was REALLY well done and beautifully shot/directed. The great song made it all the better (I posted it below). The difference this week though was that we followed two groups and we saw those great moments/conflicts/decisions and character development.

I thought the closing of the Beth/Daryl episode was great. Likewise, there were some great character moments in the Rick/Karl episode as well. But in both of them.... a LOT of filler, doddling, etc.

So the difference for me was that this episode was rife with great writing and interesting moments/conversations, whereas in the previous two we had to sit through a lot of blah to get to those interesting moments.

By the way, the season premiere this year had 16.1 million viewers and the mid-season premiere had 15.8 million viewers.

Those are RIDICULOUS numbers for a cable show not everyone gets in the era of internet entertainment options.

Honestly, if this show continues to tank before the season ends, i'm done with it. It's getting boring to watch.

that seems a little extreme but I dont know your involvement in the previous 3 seasons and the first half of this season

what is your ratings for the following seasons (x# out of 5 e.g. 5/5 for Season 1 for me)

season 1
season 2
season 3
season 4 (episodes 1 to 8)
Season 4 (episodes 9 to 13)

Im curious and hope you entertain my question since its tanking to you and while I think its slowed enough and focused on dragging it out more for some characters I really dont like much (Beth, Daryl) I dont think its anywhere close to tanking

Agree. The only part of a season I didn't like was the endless search for Carol's daughter. It was a little boring, but otherwise have enjoyed 7 out of 8 half seasons.

I'm re-watching this week's episode again. It might be the best shot episode of the series, but I'm into photography and videography, so that stuff is more interesting to me than most.

The only thing I don't like about the series is how negative/conflict-oriented so many of the "groups" are. I think some would be like that, but I think the VAST majority would react like Bob did... happy to see people!

I've watched every episode since season one, and still love it.
I like how they're going from group to group, even though there's a scene here or there they could do without(filler). I like to know who the characters were before the walkers took over.
I'm a simple man..lol

As much as I dislike the last few episodes I still don't think it's the worst part of the series. There was a run when they were on the farm where nothing would happen until the last 5 minutes.

For sure, my least favorite season.
Even though, I've liked all seasons..

That was a good episode. That's when it started improving to me.

The main part I didn't like was more at the beginning of that season. To me there were some at where Lori worried about Carl, Shane glared, Carol worried about Sophia, Shane huffed and puffed, Dale worried about Andrea, and nothing else would happen.

Even ones I thought were bad often ended well.

Sorry, didn't see this till just now. I've been watching since season 1, a huge fan of the show. Bot a comic book reader at all. Season 1 and 2 were easily my favorite. Season 3 was good, liked the prison and the run in with The Governor. I guess, getting most characters back stories, 4 seasons in is what is making me lose interest. I hated Darly at the start, then became a fan of his when he went looking for Carol's daughter, but not i'm getting back to dislikig him.
