Tomorrow nights episode is called "haunted houses" and has maggie shedding light on cohls activities in 2002 and why he quit the force .... Verrrry interesting it will be

I meant tomorrow's episode. They mentioned a falling out and fight and the coming attractions led me to believe that gets shown this week.

Neither are the killer, but there could be something more going on between Cohle and the killer. Maybe a shared history. They are starting to imply that some high up government officials might know something - we'll see what they develop there.

Also, reading some online comments, here are apparently a lot of references (black stars, yellow king) to a supernatural piece of literature. Maybe they shake it up and add a bit of the supernatural? Would seem to go against the 'true detective' theme but you never know.

Good point, Dacks. Read about people saying there could be a move towards the mystical/supernatural in a few places myself.

I do think it's within the theme of the show since religion is a pretty central issue - the preacher and the church this is wrapped up with, Cohle's diatribes about religion, Hart's reaction to anything outside the mainstream as being messed up, comments about people's spirit/souls, possible acult links to the killings, etc. If there is one issue they seem to discuss consistently, I think it actually does surround questions of religion, existence, etc. Which is linked to the supernatural, so to speak.

In the previews for tomorrow's episode, I thought I saw a quick clip of a scantily-clad Maggie dancing or some such. Maybe it wasn't her (it was on screen for half a second), but I keep thinking she may be the reason for the Hart and Cohle "breaking up." Except for the fact that Cohle seems to be something of an asexual being.

They are such a compelling duo - on the one hand they are total opposites and really dislike the other, yet at the same time they are truly the only ones that understand each other (Cohle knows Hart way better than his wife and Hart sees the positives in Cohle that nobody else on the squad appreciates) and seem to have total trust in one another (Cohle didn't hesitate to tell Hart of his plot to infiltrate the gang, Hart never questioned whether Cohle would "protect the shield" when he shot Ledeau).

Can't wait to watch tomorrow.

You know, I was thinking the same thing when I saw it. The kids playing with the dolls like that and Cohle making the beer can into people, it definitely means something.

Also, Cohle's theories about time and fate are interesting. Maybe he has some hunches about the killer because he's lived through it before? He has all sorts of hallucinations, could be his drug history or somewhat of a sixth sense on his part.

I don't necessarily want them to go in the supernatural direction, but I could definitely see it working. And the title of the track - true detective - could also allude to understanding the 'higher truth' - and not necessarily about police work at all. Probably a bit of a stretch, but I'm having fun. Reminds me of the early lost seasons.

Seriously First thing I noticed when he got back into the truck.

oh shit, it's the girl from Banshee!.

I kind of liked her in her Amish outfit. I like the female cop and the Indian too. Banshee is the trashiest stupidest show I watch. I like that it doesn't take itself seriously and that there is always decent nudity and a couple pro wrestling style fights.
