He's still around. Apparently lives in Dubai now. Maybe just wanted to get away from it all.

It's somehow not the same without the wind and rain whipping through , and players trying merely keep the ball on the fairway.

Yeah, I agree. Not a big fan of Royal Liverpool either. Links courses are often lacking in character/signature in my opinion, so this one came off as a little bland. But St. Andrew's in 2015 - that should be cool!
