Of course there's not...at this point you've played 17 games and you are what you are ... there are outliers, but in the end you are who and what your are...if you're a moron from week 1 to 18 with challenges, substitutions and clock management, you sure and hell haven't learned a damn thing since week 4 or so...neither have your assistants or your players...so you are what you are unless you're actually a genius and nobody realizes it. Now ask yourself this, is there somebody on your team's staff that is a special genius about to unleash the best on the rest of the playoff field??? I highly doubt it...my team included

May have 1 example... 2012 divisional game Packers vs 49ers. Kaepernick ran all day for over 180 yards... Packers defense definitely was not expecting nor prepared for that happening.

- Bucs were #5 seed
- Chiefs were #1 seed

The 2020 Bucs broke 8 year streak that teams that played in wildcard round (no bye in first round) had not made it to Super Bowl. From 2013 to 2019 (NFL season) 10 #1 seeds and 4 #2 seeds had played in the Super Bowl.

Find it interesting #4 seed has played in Super Bowl more often than #3 seed.

I believe a couple of those 4 seeds are those late blooming Giants and Ravens teams who had their defense coalesce late in the season. Peyton's First Super Bowl win came from a 3 seed that was the same thing, though. Bob Sanders got healthy and their D became dominant. Tampa Bay coming from a lower seed makes sense, too, because they had a lot of new pieces playing together so that took time.

Long story short - its easy to see why the top 2 seeds move on. The best built teams in the regular season are the same best built teams in the playoffs these days.

The most obvious lower seed that could do something like that this year is Arizona if Hopkins comes back healthy. Hopkins when healthy is legitimately one of the best players in football.
