I will say though... Seguin looked nonexistent out there. He was bad on the powerplay. Couldnt set it up at all (its not his job, but still he looked awful when he tried), and his shots were off. Benn was average. I thought Val was very good. Defense was solid... nemeth impressed. Hemsky holy shit that dude is fast. I'm tellin you, he may be the new fastest guy on the team. I never knew how speedy he was, but when he needs to he can create space. Spezza had his moments but also made some mistakes. Maybe a little bit of nerves. The 3rd line was very good imo. Roussel was everywhere and I think he played fantastic. Eakin had a goal, Horcoff played above average. The shifts Fiddler had in the 1st period were superb.

Just one of those games I guess. Outplay the other team, but the goalie stymies you. We'll be alright.

Yeah Crawford was in the zone, watcha gonna do. Still a good showing. Hard to out skate the Blackhawks & the Stars did just that.

Stars controlled most of the game. Blackhawks were out skated and outplayed, pure and simple.

Crawford was on his game, which kept us in it. Luckily, we have so many weapons, we can over-come being outplayed.

That being said, Dallas played the better game, no doubt.

:agree:

Stars outplayed/outskated the Blackhawks, but Crawford Sharp & Keith kept them in the game. Then Kane did his thing in the shootout.

What I liked about the game is that the Stars played with playoff intensity. That was a good team they played today... without an argument a contender for the cup. Many people have them as winning it all. But we came out and outplayed them. Kari fucked up that first goal... but we definitely outplayed them. We are a top 5, if not THE fastest team in the NHL. When we come out with intensity, it works incredibly to our favor as you saw in the first period. If crawford doesnt play lights out, we win that game 3 or 4 to 1.

I know, in the course of an 82 game season, we cant always come out like that. But that team right there looked goooooood. Its gonna be a fun season

Yeah, that first goal Kari gave up was ridiculous. Dallas as a whole and Kari did well to not let that keep them down.

Kari made some big 3rd period saves, but he was slow in the 1st two periods. A lot of times we got away with stuff. For example, Patrick Kane had an easy goal, but he broke his stick. Kari was incredibly slow moving across the crease. A little worried about that because he had a bad preseason as well, but hopefully he finds it.

Great first period. Our 3rd line is just totally sick with Rous, Garbs, and Eaks. We need to get the first line going and things will explode thereafter.

That was ugly. They just aren't clicking yet offensively, and I'm starting to get a little worried about our goalie situation.

Seguin hasn't had much puck luck to start the season. Shea Weber really robbed him last night.

True, Kari Lehtonen can be inconsistent & I'm not a fan of Anders Lindback as well.

As much as they out skated the Blackhawks in the first game, they were completely outskated by the Predators last night. I really like this Stars team, unfortunate start, but way early in the season so can't get upset yet.

Not a good loss last night but credit to the Preds. I'm not really worried about the goaltenders one bit. while they haven't been stellar they've been good enough to get wins and our top 6 have been non-existent...literally. It's only 2 games into the season so I'm surely not panicking but I thought it was important for Dallas to get off to a much better and faster start given how tough the west and specifically the central is.

True, very competitive division & conference.

Umm so Seguin with a Hat trick, Benn with a Gordie Howe hat trick and Stars win 4-2. All we need is the Spezza and Hemsky line to erupt.

Anyone just see this game? What a fucking epic finish. I thought Dallas was fortunate only to be down 2-0 after 1 and Dallas win 3-2 with the GW goal with 3.9 seconds left. What a great win an the goal they called back on Spezza was complete Bullshit in my opinion.

This game and win was a measuring stick. They haven't won in Pittsburgh in 12 years.

14 years to be precise, but yes that finish was epic. Spezza's such a slick playmaker. His top-end skill reminds me a lot of Brad Richards when he was here. Once that top PP unit of Benn-Seguin-Spezza-Hemsky-defenseman gets some more time together, it's going to be awfully hard to stop.

If the defense and Kari can hold up (2 big if's), this Stars team is going to be something really special.

Fun ending to that one, just watched the replay of the PP goal at the end. Pitt and Crosby stunned at the way that one played out
