Bayless is a sneaky solid add ... I was a fan of his when he came into the league. The kid can shoot and can drive a bit as well if needed. Not an assist guy, but then again we need compliments to Simmons to "share" assists, not shoulder the load. His "main" job description will be to find open spots and nail jumpers. He's coming off a great 3 point shooting year where he made over 100 3's at a almost 44%; that's an excellent year. He's also a career 82.5% free throw shooter which isn't too shabby when games are on the line. All that being said we still need Allen Crabbe to man that 2 spot :)

I'm arguing to get Embiid off the tip of everyone's tongue. He might be less useful than Jerami Grant. The whole thing can't depend on him. He's extra. There are enough assets to build with excluding Embiid. I want a great team built and then Embiid dumped on top of it, not built around him.

A healthy Embiid could be one of the best Centers in the league 2-3 years down the line ... I don't treat him as an afterthought. I think with him healthy this team can get good really quick ... without him it would take longer. That's why I consider his health "key". I like Okafor as well, but he doesn't have the "overall" potential of Embiid imo. It's not about building the team around him ... the team will be built around Simmons; but the combo of a healthy Embiid "and" Simmons could be lethal (health permitting).

I absolutely agree! Thanks for your knowledge of BB and the Sixers. My son was a great player, and I follow BB fairly often, but didn't know the players of the rest of the league like you and my son. I hope the Sixers become great again. I actually am excited about all 4 major teams in Philly. It's been awhile when they all were top teams in the same era.

duke, I follow bball as much as I do football ... I've just never thought about posting on it till recently :) Especially since the Sixers haven't had much to get excited about for so long.

I hear that BC is more interested in Terrance Ross, Toronto, in a trade for Noel? What do you think? Better than Crabbe?

Crabbe costs nothing but money, Ross costs Noel. Definitely not worth to trade for Ross.

I think Portland will match any offer for Crabbe which is why the Sixers aren't bothering. Hell, they splurged for Even Turner who we all know is nothing special.

Portland may not match offers for Crabbe, if they sign the other free agents that they want to. They may not have the cap room for Crabbe. Hope not. We'll see.

Looks like the Blazers just offered Gasol around 20 mil per ... if he takes it Crabbe would then become an option.

He's a vet who's been around and improved his game a bunch since his early NBA days ... neither he nor Bayless are "wow" signings, but the PG position has been addressed with two guys who complement each other. Bayless gives you better scoring out of the position and Sergio can better assist with running the Offense.

Looks like they don't play defense in Europe. Hope they have a big deal or two in the works.

Sixers signed vet F/G Gerald Henderson. Yet another non-spectacular, but solid signing. The theme has been to sign vet role players so far. Looks like we'll have to wait one more year for a splash.

Yeah they're just getting to the minimum. Next year is when the master plan comes to fruition.

That master plan ended when Hinkie left. This is some new plan. And thankfully, so far, it is still in line with Hinkie's plan.

Getting To Know New Sixers Point Guard Sergio Rodriguez

Good article on Sergio Rodriguez. Two great passers in he and Simmons. Could really improve the bigs when you have two guys that can get them the ball in good spots to score. His D will hurt, but if you keep Noel, we can have two top rim protectors in he and Embiid to cover for defensive lapses.

Today Mikey Miss was musing about what it would take to trade Noel for Klay Thompson. Noel + 2 firsts, plus maybe more? There is only one ball with 4 starts that want the ball. Something has to give. Perhaps GS won't win as much as most predict? Would you give up that much and maybe more for a sharpshooter?
