Here we go again with a nice lottery pick. It's time to look at the top players in the next draft. If only we can turn this thing around and start winning again. :L

Another foot injury is bad bad news....could be a 2 year deal like Embiid.....Disaster for Brett Brown that guy can't catch a break.

That's really tough - I was looking forward to watching him play this year.

Any word on what's going on Nerlens Noel? There was some chatter that he was on the trade block, is there anything to it? I'm asking because the Raptors were apparently one of teams interested and we could use a shot blocker like him on our 2nd unit.

I don't know if that's entirely true. We do not have to trade him just to trade him.

The Sixers do have leverage. As a RFA, they can still match any offer or work a sign and trade.
As we get closer to the trade deadline, I think it's worth waiting for a desperate team to bite.
Much like the Eagles and Bradford.

With limited minutes, his stats might not be that great, which might also lower his price.

That's why you trade him now if there's a decent offer.

Define 'decent'.
$0.50 on the dollar?
Late 1st round pick?

In my mind, I believe either Noel or Okafor should return an above average wing or lottery pick.
If that's being offered, then yes, jump on it.
I believe that teams are going to wait to see if the Sixers get anxious.

What is the point of Noel on this team? He doesn't score and we need scoring. If some team wants him for defense then we'll get something useful in return. The more you hold him the cheaper he gets.

What do you think he will command on the open market?

So long as two teams value him in a similar way, then he would not necessarily be cheap.
I can see a sign and trade in the offseason, as well.

He's going to be mumbling about playing time all year. Just a drag on an otherwise talented young team. His lack of playing time and zero offensive skills limit what you can get for him no matter when you trade him. And there will be more teams more hopeful about him the earlier you trade him as a result. They'll have more time with him before they have to pay him and they'll get the sign and trade opportunity.

I read here that maybe Terrance Ross would be the guy going back, but I think that was more a rumor that a local reporter just started because it made sense (Ross was a former Colangelo pick when he was GM here, 76ers need scoring, we need an athletic shot blocker) - I'm not sure if they would even be able to make the trade since their salaries don't match.

I don't see him mumbling about it at all. He said his piece and I think it's done. He'll get his shot at the start of the season. Embiid is on a minutes restriction Okafor is coming back from an injury as well. The team needs offense, but it also needs defense and that's the one thing Brett wants to emphasize. The need for scoring is more from an outside shooting perspective. Noel works fine offensively when TJ was running the point and Sergio should be able to help him even more. He needs to do a better job on the boards. Noel is the easiest big to go because they still have Holmes, who gets lost in the shuffle and while not as good of a defender (or even rebounder) his offensive game isn't too shabby. Either way with Simmons out the two to watch most are Embiid and Saric.

Saric averaging just under a point a minute in the preseason so far. May be better than I thought. God knows Sixers need some of that luck to turn good.

I was really looking forward to the Simmons, Saric, Embiid trio developing together this season. One of the few good things though is that without Simmons it will give Saric a little more freedom to play either Forward position to figure out where he fits best.

I think it's safe to say he works better as a PF.

Such a shame that we lost Simmons to the foot injury for a while ... Embiid looking like a future stud at Center. Starting to get his legs under him and the confidence is starting to build. If he can stay healthy and Simmons comes back for the 2nd half of the season to work out rookie kinks ... this team can be something special in 3 years. Saric should be fun to watch while Simmons is out ... was so looking forward to seeing all 3 develop together. It'll be interesting to see what we do with Noel and Okafor as well ... I can't imagine we don't trade one of the 2 before the trade deadline later in the season.

Noel is the one who needs to go. Like him - not love him though.
Next draft is loaded, so I think 2-3 years is the right call for us to be an elite team.
I d like growing organically v.s free agents.

From what I'm seeing of Dario and Embiid, I think I'm trading both Okafor and Noel long term. Our frontcourt should be Embiid, Dario, and Simmons. Okafor/Noel are too good to be backups and we could find some backcourt/swing pieces for those 2.
