OT. Royalty?

Can someone explain why the Royal family is such a big deal? I don't get it. Looking back at history at how the Monarchy treated it's people & how they butchered people in Scotland, Ireland, & Northern Ireland disgusts me. They caused their own people to want to flee in droves to America.

i did the tourist thing in London in 2006. went through the palace. was walking through the tour and I looked at a door alcove. it had some serious wear and tear on the wall paper so I figured why not Ill touch it. this fat british women looked right at me and with disgust said. GET YOUR FILTH OFF THE ROYALTY. my wife looked at me in surprise. I stared at that fat git and just proceeded to run my hands up and down that alcove all the while staring into her beady little eyes.

Don't hate what you don't understand. I have friends in "the family". They are all really decent folks and a ton of what they do is unbelievably altruistic, in actuality.
