Apparently Rangers of the Scottish league have been told they can't play next season due to the fact they have accumulated 30 plus million in debt. They declared bankruptsy earlier this year. I guess they've been one of the top teams in Scotland for a long time.

The Scottish Premier League has been basically the Rangers and Celtic fighting for the championship every year for quite some time. Ranger going into administration and being kicked out of the Scottish Premier league is sad for Scottish football. The giant has fallen.

I don't know if the SPL can surrive without the Rangers - the Old Firm derbies were their meal ticket.

Many of the clubs in the SFA want a new Rangers squad to begin in the 3rd division, but that would cost the other teams a boatload of money. It's a tricky situation.
