MY PURE SPECULTAION:

The cop pulled the guy over on a routine stop. When he took the ID back to his car to run it, the person involved knew something was about to find, and flipped out, went back to the car and killed the cop, then fled to the other car.

Also, a nearby rest area has been blocked off for suspicious activity, because a traveler went into the bathroom and changed clothes and came out.

That's pretty much what I pictured. If it is in fact the 2nd victim's car couldn't they run the plates and be on the lookout for that? Or maybe the 2nd victim was just a possible witness in the wrong place at the wrong time? Crazy shit.

They have been on the lookout for the car for a few hour now, released make model and license plate #

maroon nissan, late model, poor kid was probably on his way to his car to go to target or something or taking a break from studying for exams....


...heartbreaking...

We are lucky that today is "reading day" which is a quiet day before exams down there so it was not very crowded around campus.

The dead cop could not have gotten off a shot....the cage is at the very least 500 yards from the coliseum parking lot, and in a heavily trafficed place.....

VTnews just tweeted that there is no longer a threat on the Virginia Tech campus or surrounding area. People can resume regular activities.....thank God....

Could be a partner type of thing and one didn't trust the other, who knows. This is just wild right now.

My guess, and until the Cops were completely sure, they locked the place down and followed all leads, which I am completely fine with.

another policeman noticed a suspicious character in "I" lot ... turned around to approach person and when policeman got to suspicious character ... he was found deceased

person who shot policeman was not involved in initial traffic stop ... walked up to police car and shot policeman while he was dealing with traffic stop
