Weirsy's 2nd place finish at the Byron Nelson earlier today earns him his PGA tour card for 2015...You could say he's playing with house money for the rest of the season.

Rory is in the lead after one round at the Memorial this week too.

He just shot 31 on the back nine... with a double bogey on the card.

I'll be there the next three days.

Shoulda been there today. A 31? That's godlike straight up, but with a Double?

That course is vicious. I would have loved to see it.

But truthfully, I probably would have been following Furyk. He's funny.

Bold: His swing sure is. hehe.

As for the 31 with a double, he also had 2 eagles on that side.

I once had two doubles in the first 3 holes (5 over total) and shot a 1 under 71 (38-33) in an amateur event to finish T2. Sometimes a big number (or three in my case) can loosen you up because you feel it can't get any worse.

Of course if I had a swing like Rory's I'd be loose all the time. He's quite the swinger. :bolt:

Heading over. Apparently Rory is having a rough day.

I will probably hunker down in the shade on 14 because I love watching how they deal with that damn creek that runs through it.

Always a good time. Hospitality is second to none.

Spent the first hour hanging around the 11th tee and saw a lot of guys wind up in the creek. Then we just randomly wandered around. Didn't really follow anyone in particular.

Following can be a pain in the ass, IMO.

Did anyone wow you with how they swung/hit the ball. I've played with some awesome players but every time I see the big boys play live I get awed by the sound of contact that some of these guys make. Different ballpark. Different league. Different fucking sport.

At that level, there is no one who really stands out. At least not compared to each other.

I used to go to the Senior Tour event in Hunt Valley Md every year, and I loved watching the driving range. It's pretty damn inspiring. And humbling. Seeing someone like Tom Kite hit 25 9 irons in a row, exactly the same and landing pretty much exactly where I thought he wanted it to, and then hearing him turn to his caddy and say "what am I doing wrong?".

I've seen Tiger at the Memorial and his swing is just ridiculous. I was sitting on a tee box on Thursday one year when he came through. You feel the contact. So much power.

Like I said before, I like following Furyk. He seems like a nice guy and is pretty chatty. And his swing is really smooth for ultimately looking like an emu running on ice. Fred Couples was also pretty sweet to watch. Loved following him in years past.

A little sunburnt, real tired, and full of new found respect for Bubba Watson (I guess I just like guys with swings uglier than mine).

On my way out to get more sunburnt and tired.

And many more pork loin sammiches.

That was some of the ugliest golf I've seen played by someone who is not me.

We started off the later part of the day following Bubba, but the Bubba fans got so annoying that around 8 we skipped ahead to Scott and Matsuyama where we only had to deal with Japanese businessmen and their wives with umbrellas.

Then right around 14 it all went to hell for both of them. 17, I think, they both just missed going out of bounds. But it could have been worse, word was that Bubba hit a house (don't know if that's true) behind us. Enough people were laughing about a major mistake that I almost believed it.

I was on the right side fairway bunker on the playoff. WTF happened to Matsuyama? He was smoking the ball over that all week, apparently. Then he gets into a playoff and beaches it. Then Na, who I didn't see any of all day puts it in the creek on the other side. And Hideki's second there looked like it went straight into the crowd. By the time we got to the green, I saw him putt to win it.

Craziness.
