And it is not a wins/loss award. It is an offensive rookie player award. Newton wins easily at this pace.

The way I look at it is this, you take Cam off that team and play Clausen, then it's possible that they still have the 2 wins they have now (although they wouldn't be as flashy). You take Dalton off the Bengals, and start Bruce Gradkowski then there's no way they have a winning record.

IDK, i don't see Green getting more looks than Dalton in this scenario.

But in the end, I believe it's Cam Newton's to lose. It's nearly locked up for him.

(still think Dalton will get more looks/consideration IF he leads the bengals to the playoffs)

And what part of it not being about wins and losses did you not understand? This isn't an MVP award. It is an offensive rookie player award. Rushing and passing offense from one player will be better than passing offense from one player. It ain't rocket science but you are trying to turn the award into something that it is not.

As it stands right now, Cam will win, based on his being the #1 pick, and the perception that he would suck, but instead being really good. Publicity alone wins it for Cam.

You're not understanding the point. If you remove them from their team, which team suffers more. I think the Bengals. That's the point. And of course wins do play into it. That's the goal in the NFL isn't it, to get more wins?

Nope, money and personal glory is where it's at. Just ask Chris Johnson.

You are not understanding the point. You are treating this award like it is an MVP award. Problem is, it is not an MVP award. This award isn't about wins or losses. Here is an example:

Player A: Rookie RB rushes for 2000 yds. Team goes 0-16.
Player B: Rookie RB rushes for 1000 yds. Team goes 10-6.

Guess which player wins the Offensive Player of the Year Award?

Then how do you explain Matt Ryan winning ROY award in 08 when the Falcons were 23rd in passing that year. BTW he was up against CJ, Harvin, Forte, Desean Jackson and more... Don't fool yourself, wins do factor into. Now like the guy before said, everyone expected him to fail and him succeeding may get him the award from that hype alone. Either one who wins it, will deserve it though.

Harvin wasn't a rookie in '08. DeSean Jackson didn't top 1000 yds as a WR.
Forte and CJ had quality starting RB seasons. Matt Ryan stepped in at the hardest position for a rookie and threw for 3,440 yds 16 TDs 11 INTs with an 87.7 QB Rating. You basically just proved that it isn't about wins and losses.

Seriously? Do you not remember the whole SportsHoopla (edit: no pun intended) about Ryan? Nobody was bragging about those 16 TDs and 11 int. It was the fact that he turned the Falcons from a joke into a contender. Do you honestly not remember that?

That average is barely over 200 yds per game and 1 TD per game.

Everybody was bragging about how well he was doing as a rookie. I remember hella people saying he was going to suck and be a bust before the season. If you don't think his performance wasn't very good and not deserving of OROY then that is your opinion. I don't agree with it and I certainly don't think wins and losses played a part in it either.

Matt Ryan won OROY because his team won 2 games less than the Titans and two games more than the Bears and Eagles. SOLID.

Vince Young won ROY in a season in which he threw more INTs than TDs, but his team won. Just saying.

Vince Young won 8 games and also ran 552 yards and 7 TDs. But of course Reggie Bush and his less than 600 yds rushing, Matt Leinart, or Cutler for 5 games were more deserving. Please.

Depends how they view ROY.... performance stats wise? wins???

IMO it will be Newton considering he might break some rookie QB records by the end of year, if its even close....(just guessing passing yards?)

but if Dalton leads the bengals to the playoffs, holy moly...

its based on who's mug is in the news the most.....just like how they choose everything else in this country
