my parents live on a corner lot with a roundabout at the intersection and they had these signs on poles facing the 4 lanes that entered the intersections ... the pole was long enough so the top of the sign was about maybe 4 feet high ... people run through them all the time ... one day someone hit one and almost got impaled so they cut the length of the poles so the signs are at bumper level

Over the summer, our pay gets handled differently, and we have to fill out time sheets. Since the plan the whole time is to compensate us a fixed amount, the time sheets don't actually reflect when we work, and we're only to report 20 hours per week. This itself is problematic, since most of us work anywhere between 40 and 60 hours per week, and we don't register for classes in the summer, so calling the difference "dissertation work" is a bit disingenuous, especially since not registering for classes means we lose access to free University services over the summer.

But that's not what drives me nuts this year. What drives me nuts this year is that they made us all go to a computer lab to fill them out under supervision, because apparently they don't trust us to follow instructions. The whole thing was really condescending, especially not being allowed to leave until they checked our work, but having 40 people at a time, in the same room, accessing the same outdated server at the same time meant this process which used to take me all of five minutes from log in to completion took instead an hour and twenty minutes because it took that long for each of the pages to load, if they loaded at all, and the various logins because the login actually timed out before the hours submitted.

It was a colossal wasted of my time.
