my bro in law had impeccable timing ... liquidated all cdn assets when he took the job at amazon a couple years ago when the cdn $ was above par ... and now earning US$'s

and yes they will come back and retire here quite nicely

Working on it, hahaha. It's very frustrating in my situation with student loans. Nothing like the government giving you a 6.5% interest rate and taking $400/month from me. Weeeeee!

Yeah, I agree. 6.5% is exploiting me. The market is set up to force young people to go to college. Even if the career you want doesn't necessarily need that liberal arts "well rounded" education, you HAVE to go because that's the only way you find a job. So you have a majority of young people who have to go to a college to have a career, and many need help...so the government gives money on an interest rate worse than mortgage and car loans. Yeah, that's nice of you government.
