i love this every time

so here's a great Cure tune

I love the cure, and apparently they are releasing a new album in Sept that is, as Robert describes it, "the doomiest and gloomiest thing we've ever done".

One of my faves:

So, the above video reminded me of the Cure cover of "Hello, I love you" from a compilation for Elektra records 40th anniversary. New artists (well, 30 years ago) doing old songs.

this is one of my faves from that era.
it's been amazing how consistently good they have been while changing their sound so dramatically over the years

RIP Olivia Newton John. I was a big fan of her video work in my early teen years. And even now.

RIP Lamont Dozier, at 81 years old. incredible resume.

Looked into him after hearing this name in Billy Bragg song "Levi Stubb's Tears."
If you can think of a hit by the Supremes, the Four Tops, or Martha and the Vandellas, it was likely written by Holland-Dozier-Holland
That trio wrote over 400 songs, over 40 of which went to #1, including

“Stop In The Name Of Love,”
“Baby Love,”
“Where Did Our Love Go,”
“You Can’t Hurry Love,”
“You Just Keep Me Hanging On,”
“Nowhere To Run,”
“Love Is Like A Heat Wave,”
“Baby I Need Your Loving,”
“I Can’t Help Myself,”
“Sugar Pie,”
“Reach Out I’ll Be There,”
“How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You,”
“Can I Get A Witness"

Here's the fantastic Billy Bragg song mentioned above.
Levi Stubbs of course, was the singer for the Four Tops.
The song is about a woman with a rough life finding solace in Motown music.
