God dammit Dash... Pink Floyd!

Also, Nirvana sucks ass. Alice In Chains and Soundgarden are my picks for the better of the Grunge era.

They used space better than any other grunge band.

Besides, Cobain has one of the best voices of all-time. What do I mean by that? Well, there are great singers - people who technically do a great job and you marvel at their god given ability. Eddie Vedder, Mariah Carey, Pavarotti, etc.

Then there are people with great voices - Bob Dylan, Kurt Cobain, Edith Piaf, Louis Armstrong, etc. People who had POWER and EMOTION to their voice whether they happened to be a great singer or not.

Stone Temple Pilots gets lumped into the grunge mix as well. They might be better than all of them. Scott Weiland is an amazing frontman and vocalist/lyricist.

Also, I found these guys the other day. Amazing band from Germany. They used to be black metal, which I can't fucking stand. Now they've found themselves in this very trippy psychedelic shoegazey post-metal sound. I fucking love it. I had a long drive the other day, this album was perfect for it.

Not sure how I forgot about the Screaming Trees. They were great.

They were criminally overlooked from the Seattle scene.
I saw them in the early 90s on a weekday evening with about 200 people in the bar.
Absolutely brilliant show.

Another one from the Singles soundtrack

Sorry 43 - I never liked Soundgarden. Cornell - amazing voice, but just didn't like the writing that much. I don't know, I could never get into them. I loved Nirvana - had a god damn shrine to Kurt in my college dorm room and blonde hair down to my chin.... ahhhh, hair. sigh)

My thought on Nirvana is this: The lead singer killed himself and the rest of the band went on to be considerably better without him.

Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, L7, Mother Love Bone/Temple of the Dog - all better, IMO. Pearl Jam and STP too, obviously.

I just wish the music industry didn't ignore everyone else at the time. Some really great bands didn't get as much play because they weren't "Grunge". Soul Asylum, Goo Goo Dolls, Cowboy Junkies, Live and a band no one has heard of called Baby Animals. Tragically Hip released what should have been their breakthrough album in that time too. Fully Completely should have made them superstars everywhere. Oh well...

An abano. A mubabo. a mobito, my nibibo. Yeah.

They used space better than any other grunge band.

I was never a big grunge fan, I got tired of it all really quickly. 20 plus years later the only grunge band I listen to on purpose is Nirvana, usually "In Utero" which i think is a really solid album. Sure I guess "Nevermind" was better but I heard that so much I am OK if I never hear any of it again.

I like Dave Grohl, he seems really cool, and I like some stuff I hear from the Foo Fighters on the radio but I don't think I have ever purposely listened to them.

Pearl Jam and STP and their back catalogs can disappear forever as far as I am concerned.

Released in '88, but a huge song for me in the 90s. This song pumps me up. Love it.

Great song. Gotta love the Body Glove track suit with the bedazzled suit jacket. Fashion staples.

Best album of 2014. What a fucking masterpiece... You guys will all hate it. Mind altering doom metal.

So heavy, yet so meditative.
