Note: This coming from a Boston guy.

He tore up his knee and although he now says he expects to be back even if he does not what a career.

Guy oozes class on every level. Not sure which WS championship the Sox has won but the first home game in Boston was the Yanks. Rivera got a standing ovation (Of course he got bombed for the 1st time in the previous years playoffs) and he just kinda chuckled a bit..smiled and tipped his cap.

Fucking awesome. As a borderline Red Sox fan I will remember that image of him forever. As a player he is simply the guy who defined what a closer is.

Hope you do get well Mariano and come back and torture hitters again.

I felt really, really bad watching him tear up in the press conference. He's one of the rare Yankee players I have tons of respect and admiration for.

He said he's going to pitch next year. Says there's no way he can go out like that.

I'm glad to hear that. He's not only been a great pitcher the past 15 years or so (with ONE pitch mind you), he's also been a class act. Rivera and Jeter are the 2 Yankees still playing I could never hate. Bernie Williams is another.
