this was on the TV as the athletes came on the field for Canada. the local canadian announcers said

"Canadian athletes enter the stadium"

and all they showed were these girls

we are going to place worse than last place.

Love the olympics, summer or winter. Remember as a kid just watching hours and hours of random coverage on CBC (really feel sorry for you yanks with the US coverage, it fucking sucks). Friend of mine won a bronze in Beijing, and I've got connections to two others this year (one of whom might medal) so that keeps me engaged.

Only saw a bit of the ceremony, and one thing stuck out - how many people are there claiming to have invented the internet? That's like the 24th I've seen.

In the Beijing Olympics I was "connected" (more or less) to three athletes.. Naim Terbunja in boxing, whom I went to school with, as well as Marcus Piehl, in swimming, whom I also went to school with but also lived nearby when I lived in Linköping. Also, the Swedish goalie in women's soccer Hedvig Lindahl lived near me then and she's also the goalie in this Olympics.
