Apparently Wambach was chirping in the ref's ear, and counting the seconds whenever the Canadian goalie had the ball. Classy, that. But even worse, instead of telling her to STFU, or carding her for dissent, the ref gets influenced.

We think NHL refs are bad, but these international tournaments always remind us how bad officiating is around the world. The judging in these Olympics is always at least partially a popularity contest. The boxing has been a trainwreck - apparently another Canadian just got ripped off there, against one of the Brits (don't know enough about boxing to comment on that one).

Can we give the Norwegians a break? My peoples actually fought the Nazis unlike certain countries...

I didn't see it either, Dacks, but here's a tweet from Duthie - Looks like it was tied after the bout, so I guess they query the judges to break the tie:

CAN's Custio Clayton loses controversial decision to GB's Freddie Evans. Was scored 14-14. Great effort by the kid from Dartmouth, NS.

I all for each sport having a governing body on hand that the losing side can bring straight cash money to in order to have their appeal heard. If the decision stands, the money goes back, if it's overturned, then it changes hands. That makes their decision iron-clad lead pipe locked 100% definitive and unbiased to boot. Bribing judges and officials ahead of time is so last century.

They've actually changed the results of several of the boxing matches so far, so the appeal may actually work.

I want to stay positive, but I have a sinking feeling home cooking will prevail...

Melody with it. If anyone knows, thanks in advance. It's stuck in my head

That'd better not be the same song that drives me nuts. One of NBC's songs I can't stand. It'd be funny if it was the same one.

Lol, no idea. It's below. To me, it sets a nice mood and goes with the highlights well. Gets your toes tapping and has good lyrics, but mostly instrumental, which is mostly what you want with sports highlights.
