I say 62 is the amount of HRs you'd need to hit to be considered the record holder, IMO.

Ryan Howard hit 58 a few years ago. I don't remember who I was talking to, but I did say that if he happened to hit 62 that year I would have considered him the record holder.

Some people suspect that Maris may have used some sort of steroids as well considering the 61 HR's he hit was the most of his career in any year by 22.
