That certainly sucked for them. Could they have known ahead of time that the carriers would not be there, though?

BTW, I dunno about the other carriers...but the Enterprise WAS supposed to be at Pearl Harbor the day of the attack. She was slowed down the previous day by a terrible storm. Several of her planes were shot down by Zeros when they got near Pearl Harbor.
