Pillar caught stealing (was safe originally, but came off the bag and the tag was applied).

/Still wondering where that call was in game 2 when Odor came off the bag and the tag was applied by Tulo.

Torre is saying Utley's suspension is because he didn't slide. That is, he contacted Tejada before his butt and one leg hit the ground.

Which, incidentally, is also what Coghlan did to Kang, but whatever.

Very strange that Price is throwing so many pitches today with such a big lead.

Well, he ends up getting the win (Dickey was a out short of going 5 innings and earning the 'W'), so at least David gets the postseason monkey off his back.

/Gotta be Stroman starting for game 5 on Wednesday.

If Stroman was the man for Game 5 all along with Price being an option out of the bullpen, then I can see the logic in giving Price some work out of the bullpen today even with the big lead. I just think they left him in a bit long considering they didn't really need him.

Speaking of which, it turned out they didn't really need him since he wasn't very affective. I say that realizing the pitch calls would have been different in a closer situation.

So now the question is, how many innings could he go in relief in game 5 if necessary? Especially considering they'd probably like to use him as a starter at some point in the ALCS should they advance.

I was just watching/listening to Gibbons in the post-game presser and he said Price is not available for game 5. I didn't know that Aaron Loup (the only other lefty in the bullpen) left prior to the game (some kind of family issue), so Price was the only southpaw in the bullpen.

Gibbons said without hesitation that we absolutely will not see Price Wednesday. Price insists that he will be ready and available.

So pix, are you rooting for:

a) The Cubs

It's pretty cool there are so many teams in the mix this year that have either never won a World Series title or haven't won one in a long time. Bummed my Nats aren't in the mix, just hope that the Dodgers and Cards are knocked out in the Division series. I guess we'll see tonight!

Cubs. I'm honestly okay with them winning, as long as Coghlan gets a swift kick in the nards. Cards are wholly insufferable. I'll take the overloaded Cubs bandwagon over the Cards "nation".

Okay, I'm not watching today's game (stuck at work), but what the h-e-double hockey sticks just happened? Martin throws a ball back to the mound, it hits Choo's bat and the Rangers score a go-ahead run?

How can the ump rule a play dead and yet a run scores? Can somebody explain that to me?

Said it in the baseball thread - it's the right call, but the ump fucked up and last time I checked you can't overturn a play waved dead.

This is horseshit.

This kind of thing happening is usually reserved for the Maple Leafs...
