Sending Miggy home instead of 2nd and 3rd with no outs was a big turning point - Also, how about that Gausman kid keeping the O's in this game with his fine performance?

Constants in life: death, taxes, and the Tigers bullpen imploding.

Can't blame Ausmus for a single pitching change in this one. Every pitcher he brought in shit the bed.

Really don't know that the Tigers bullpen can bounce back from this performance either. Need their starters to basically go the distance...which they're capable of, of course, but it's a bit too high of an expectation against this O's lineup.

I don't think he's mismanaged really. I mean, I don't think I would've brought in Joba just because of the history, but...then who does he bring in? I agree with putting this on the GM. They keep trying to buy a pen, and I think they need to get some homegrown products working. They've got a great starting rotation that they've mostly built up on their own, but they have to have some power arms in the farm, right?

Not a single ball leaves the infield.

The Tigers go like pussycats in the 9th.

I'm beside myself with disappointment.

What is Delmon Young's deal? He struggles to stay employed all season every season, then suddenly, he's on a playoff roster getting a big hit for his team. It never fails.

Why not employ a system like the Angels did - just call up basically all your minor leaguers throughout the year and see which ones can handle it.

And most teams in the majors have mediocre to shitty bullpens - the Kitties just happen to have a very good starting staff and offense to make up for it.

The Nationals, Pirates, Cardinals, Yankees, Royals, Angels, and Athletics all have really excellent bullpens.

The Cards won the division this year largely on the merit of their bullpen.

But yeah, honestly, they're not hard to build. Use some hard-throwing failed starters to make up the bulk of it, sign one or two proven back-end guys, and pick up a couple reclamation projects, and you should at least have an average pen.

I would kill for a shitty bullpen right now. What we have now is below that.
