How would you feel if while on an interview the person you were speaking to did not speak kindly of their late employee?

I would find them to be not all that professional. However, when I was a manager, I would tend to let the people know what the person they are replacing did wrong so that they know the guidelines of the job.

it's a red flag, but not a deal stopper if it is warranted.

+ve: you know what behavior is expected / tolerated (ie. don't do what the last person did)
-ve: does that mean that they will talk shit about you when you leave as well?

depends a lot on context, but it's a good sign that you noticed and are concerned about it.

If they were just bad mouthing that person, then they are wrong. However, if they are telling you that the person sucked as an employee and what they were doing wrong, then there is nothing wrong with that.

Also, define "late employee". Did you mean, previous employee that held the position, or someone who was stuck in traffic and was tardy, or an employee who is dead.

Previous employee. I understand what he was attempting to get across. But he could of gone about it differently. He said what she did wrong but he didn't have to go into as much detail as he did.

The interview itself didn't go bad. But this just isn't sitting right with me. I don't want to come across as picky. I really want a job. I do. But I don't want to put myself in a position where I am not happy with the job I'll more likely then not have for awhile.

In todays market, I def would not be too picky. As long as your a good employee, I wouldn't sweat it.

No matter where you work, stuff like that will happen at least behind the scenes. Don't concern yourself with that so much as with whether or not you'll enjoy the actual work.

Now I'm going to go outside and read Physical Chemistry: A Molecular Approach by Donald A. McQuarrie and John D. Simon. :)

My Tigers are playing the Tampa Bay Rays tonight.

You're going down, Cricket!

(The last time I said this to some Pirate fan, it didn't work out well)

I'm not really into baseball. But I can put up a front and attempt to make it entertaining if you like.
