Sorry to hear about your dog, Comeds. Hope he is doing better.

Thanks. I'll know more in a couple of days. After some tests they think its something called Cushings Disease. Looking at the symptoms I'd say that sounds right, he has got most of them. It might even help explain why I got bit. He has another day at the vet tomorrow for another test then we will know how to proceed. Fingers crossed for a medicinal treatment and not having to think about cutting him open.

My wife has the tough job, dropping him off in the morning. I get the easy job picking him up after the test. Guess whose feet he will lay by tomorrow night?

This may be the greatest picture of my dogs ever. Sara went and checked on them this morning (staying in another house because her parents have cats). I am not sure what the hell Luke is doing (prob yawning) but he looks like the sharks in Shark Week when they roll their eyes back and thrust their jaws out. Rosie just looks guilty. The new bed was not appreciated.

My dog was diagnosed with Cushings Disease, an ailment that has the adrenal glands over producing which in turn messes up a lot of the other organs. Naturally he has a rare kind that is the cause of a growth in one of the adrenal glands. It could be nothing, it could be a benign growth, or it could be cancerous. The only way to be sure is to remove the adrenal gland. Even though the vet we go to is one of the few exotic vets in the state and performs surgeries of all sorts (they work on wildlife for the DNR too) they will not do this surgery. They offered to refer me to a specialist but did warn me how serious of a surgery and how extensive of a recuperation it would be. Rocket is 11 so we opted to treat it with meds. Hopefully whatever it is is not serious or is slow moving enough it wont affect him.

Now the good news. We took him in the first place because he was drinking double or triple the water he used to drink. After a couple weeks on the meds he has not only stopped drinking so much but he has also has a bounce in his step he has been missing for a while. He has tried to get ball games going or brought us toys which he hasn't for a while. He also is back to following me from room to room whereas the last few months he stayed downstairs most of the time. So it seems he is feeling much better, seeign a difference makes paying for the meds a lot easier.
