Another thing that should be legal. It'd probably keep more psychopaths from going on killing sprees and get rid of many rapists. As well as make a shit ton of money in taxes. Just keep it in certain zoning areas so it is far away from churches and schools/residential areas.

supreme court in Canada is scheduled to look at brothels.
my view on most vices: legalize it, and tax it.

on TV, I hate it when a channel like AMC shows a movie like Scarface.
seriously, what's the point when they dub the cuss words and edit out the boobs.
it's OK to watch the dude get carved up with a chainsaw, though.

BC should legalize weed, tax it, and put that tax money into health care and education...

so my kid has three of her 8 year old little friends over today, I go up and check on them, and they are sitting around singing Bob Marley (One Love).

I didn't smell any weed, but i have no idea where they would have learned that song. :noidea:

noodling around on my guitar, playing Midnight Rider, and my kid comes down and kind of digs the riff.
She is taking piano lessons, so I suggest we spend a few minutes and teach her how to play it herself.

I don't play piano at all, but she showed me where the notes were, and in the process, I taught her how to build a major vs minor chord, how to turn it into a dominant 7, how to play a suspended chord, and now she's playing an Allman Brothers song. :thumb:

I call today a success.

Very cool puck. Lots of piano in Allman Bros songs.

well, I think I can put away the mensa membership brochure for my kid.

watching 'Walking with Dinosaurs', the BBC documentary that has all of these CGI dinosaurs, talking about the development, evolution, etc. it's very interesting.

walking-with-dinosaurs-kenneth-branagh-dvd-cover-art.jpg

so the kid asks "Where do they get the movie of the dinosaurs?"
- "what do you think kiddo?"
"well, they didn't have movie cameras back then, so maybe they just go where this took place. and then get pictures of the dinosaurs from the internet?"
- "I see. and where do you think they got the pictures.... 150 million years ago"
"oooooohhhh"

~ silence ~

- "think of it as a freakin' cartoon, kid"

which devolved into a discussion explaining how not all animation looks like Scooby Doo.

Lol. On the plus side, at least you are teaching him.

Back when I lived in Cleveland, my brother came to visit and we went to the zoo (he's worked for a number of zoos and Sea World as a vet tech and zookeeper). We are standing there at the fence looking at some camels and a family is about 30 feet to our left...
Kid: Dad, what are those?
Dad: Well, they are supposed to be camels, but they aren't real.
Kid: They're not real.
Dad: (laughs) None of these animals are real son. Well, some of the birds and the small ones. But not the big ones. They are just animatronic robots. Probably being remote-controlled by somebody over in that building.
Kid: Oh, okay.

I turned to my brother with a completely shocked look on my face and he just quietly says "The sad thing is I've heard people say that several times before."

So, you're kid is already smarter than at least one 45-year old in Cleveland. ;)

Today the fridge started making noise ... I knew what it was right away ... So i pulled off the toekick and asked my 5 year old to grab the flashlight and look under there for me and tell me what he thinks is wrong ...

He says "it looks like a fan thing is going round and round and it hits the metal thing sometimes"

Didnt even have to put down my beer to double check his diagnosis

I think i should have him mowing the lawn by next spring

My 12 year old son just got back from the Canada vs Mexico game at BC Place in Vancouver for women's soccer. Apparently, 700 kids went to the game from the north Vancouver Island area (where we live), which was cool. But what was even cooler (from a strictly personal standpoint) was that my kid somehow got asked to go down to field level at half time and perform in a game of kicking balls into these small goals. Anyhoo, he kicked the most balls into the net and for his trouble, he scored -- a team Canada Umbro jersey, a team Canada Umbro jacket, a team Canada Umbro polo type shirt, and a team Canada scarf. The team Canada polo shirt is a mens shirt so he gifted it to me. *wipes tear*.

In yesterday's game, an opposing forward crossed the blue line an unleashed a wrister that rose and boinked my son right on the front of helmet right above the cage. It was so hard the puck went all the way into the corner. It was loud. And there was an audible gasp from the stands, and my wife said all the parents on both teams though for sure he was going down. But he stayed in it.

After the period ended he came to the bench and I asked if he was okay, cuz it looked like a hard hit. He said "Sometimes goalies have to use their head".

Yeah. On Purpose head save. That's my boy.

Can we get your kid on the Canadian men's national team pronto?
