You sure about that?

It was a while ago obviously, but I seem to recall Fox being the only ones to not call it for Gore, then to proceed and call it for Bush while everyone else was calling Gore.

That's what led to the change in the procedures where the networks now can't call a state until the polls are closed, because the Florida panhandle was still open when the networks called Florida in 2000.

Pretty sure.

I still remember their panel looking all doom and gloom and then the left-wing analyst they had up there gave a sharp "What?" exclamation before FOX said Bush had taken the lead (or at least said "too close to call").

Karl Rove refuses to let it die though. I get that he doesn't want to let hope slip away, but I don't exactly see the wisdom of trying to out-math the professional statisticians. :nerd:

It's akin to trying to out-science Darkstone...

Florida looks like they could probably call it too if they want. I won't try to out-math the statisticians though.

Leading as it is with Miami-Dade - an overwhelmingly Democratic county - having pretty as many votes outstanding as the entire rest of the state.

Romney has slight lead in Ohio, but a big Obama bounce expected in a few counties.

Still a lot of votes to be counted, though.

Yeah, they had their stat guy on debating Karl Rove on Fox, and he pointed out that it's primarily Cuyahoga county, around Cleveland, which is overwhelmingly Democratic.

I understand Rove's point that perhaps it was a bit premature, but if the numbers pan out and Ohio does go Obama, Rove will just end up looking silly.

Of course, all of this is moot if Obama takes any of the remaining states.

Yeah. I guess they were trying to fill time since poles in AK don't close for another hour yet (nearly two from when they started arguing) and they don't have any other states to call right now with FL and VA being so close.

Odds of Romney running the table were astronomical though.

Can't even imagine the way this has gotta feel for a guy like Romney (or McCain, Kerry, etc.)

This is a one-time chance. In this day and age there is no next year once you lose a presidential election.

Colorado has gone Obama.

Does that officially make it out of reach even if Romney carries VA, FL and Ohio?

I just checked the Glendale results and it looks like councilwoman Joyce Clark is going down to defeat...

I know very well the feeling of working hard and sacrificing much of your life to achieve something and getting nothing out of it.

Mitt...is that you? Shouldn't you be fine-tuning your concession speach?

I know the feeling too, but I don't think there's a bigger stage to be a loser on than POTUS.

Yes. That would leave Obama at 272 to 268 for Romney.

I think. It's late.

Yeah, I'm so tired I can't even do simple mental math right now.

Yeah, it's gotta suck. 2 years (at least) out of your life. Gone. Wasted. Buh bye.
