Not sure if I want to replace the neck in the future as it will pretty much destroy the 60th anniversary authenticity. However I did just throw custom pickups in there and change the pickguard, lol.

playability is more important than retaining authenticity, especially on a re-issue.
keep the old neck so you can replace it if you ever want to sell the guitar.

Well, you'll probably appreciate the higher action when you start playing some psycho jazz voicings. You might also want to switch to a higher string gauge (assuming you're 0.10 or less right now).

My minimum was always 0.11 but never felt great until 0.12

Right now I have 12's on there, lol. Not sure what the tech put back on. I am praying they aren't 9's, I'll kill a mothafucka.

I may scale back to 11's though.

That's the plan. Although I must say, I've gotten some input from a music board I frequent, and it seems many guitars come like this from the warehouse. And honestly, my action has always been high, so I should probably stop worrying so much. If it ever gets to the point where I literally can;t play it, then I'll change the neck out.

I've been browsing Warmoth.com, and I must say, the bloodwood necks would look sexy as fuck on my Sierra sunburst strat.

I am such a sucker for spending money. Ugh.

But yes, I agree, authenticity means nothing, I'd rather be comfortable playing it. Which I am, for now.

I just typed a bunch of shit, and deleted it by accident, lol. I'll just summarize.

I like how the tortoise pickguard pulls in the rosewood fretboard now. I hated having a maple head and a rosewood fretboard. Didn't really irk me until months after I bought it.

I was skeptical about the chrome HB pup, but in person it looks really nice, pic doesn't do it justice.

These MojoTone pups are so much warmer than the stock Fenders that were in there before. Much more articulate as well. Even with very high gain, I can make out all the notes on a funky jazz chord, where as before it was real muddy.

All in all, very happy.

Cool.

I'd like to hear it posted on soundcloud (or something similar) if possible. Youtube has horrible bandwidth and won't capture any distinct tone.

if she sounds as good as she looks then I know you're happy.... Does she have a name?

Given the MojoTone pickups, and my frequent use of the word mojo, after 7 years of owning it, I just recently gave it the nickname "Mojo".

Cool.

Will do. I usually do YouTube, but I agree the quality is horrible. I'll create a soundcloud account. I'll probably get some recording in on Saturday.

lmao, the strat is for that nice vintage sound (as well as look).

This will be for my metal playing. It's a baritone. I got an email from a band this morning that is looking for a guitarist in the near future, so I said fuck it and pulled the trigger on it. I planned on buying it in like two months anyway. Has a built in capo, so it can be turned into a normal guitar in E in like a second.

I'm looking forward to it. I figured you wouldn't like that one. lol

lol, already cancelled the order. That thing has some awful reviews (apparently the built-in capo breaks easily, the dots on the fretboard are different than the dots on the top of the fretboard.) I kind of rush-bought it due to an atmospheric sludge project I'm gonna be joining. I really want a Steinberger, and went for this due to the baritone (as they tune to B), but it's the ZT3 or nothing. Gonna have to put the ZT3 on the backburner for now though.

Not sure what to buy... I'm sure as hell not tuning my strat down to B. May just buy a cheap guitar and have it set up with some 13's on it to handle B tuning.

maybe look at a starter model 7-sting instead of something that changes.
low string is tuned to a B, so you can barre the top strings in key
Ibanez RG7421 7-String Electric Guitar at AMS

I had an Ibanez 7-string for a while but traded it for a Gretsch

Yea, I was thinking about a 7 string. Would definitely suit me a little better. Much less expensive than that Steinberger as well.

You cannot serve two masters. Choose wisely my son.

Lol, I gotta build up the arsenal brotha.
