I wouldn't necessarily call this a 'fail'.

Any fans of The Pat Metheny Group? I love allot of music but this is the only stuff I'll put up there with old Metallica shit and call life-changing. My favorite albums are "The Way Up" and "We Live Here." If you have spotify and want to check something out, check out the track "To the End of the World" on "We Live Here." I've listened to it hundreds of times and by the end of the orgasmic guitar solo, I always have goose-bumps and am in a zone.

I grew up finger-picking on acoustics playing Metallica power chords in a three-piece band and then moved on to being cursed with a love of jazz. Took lessons for years in Nashville from Dan Dowling, had some family problems and lost much of it and am slowly trying to regain some of my ability. Back then I was playing a nylon string Godin Multiac. Man do I miss that guitar!!! This is currently my main guitar, an Epiphone Dot Studio.

Love Pat Metheny. Saw "We Live Here" tour in Vancouver in '95. It was easily the best sound of any concert I'd been to. Lyle Mays is an amazing musician in his own right. Bright Sized Life and Still Life Talking are probably my favorite albums.

I took a year of jazz at G.I.T. in Los Angeles.

My rig:

Marshall 100w 2555 Silver Anniversay half stack I've owned since 1987.

TC Electronic Gsystem and Nova Drive dist wired for amp channel switching. Two Ernie Ball Volume pedals to control Vol and Wah/Expression duties.

79 Black Beauty Les Paul Custom

Jackson Adrian Smith strat

I love my tone. The rig just does it all.

I think we might have gone over this before.......but I'm a big Metheny fan. My favorite song of his is San Lorenzo, but as far as an album his Beyond the Missouri Sky album with Charlie Haden is a one of a kind classic. I have a hard time even playing his songs because his chords and fingerings are so unique, difficult and not really following any normal patterns.

It's a granular, additive, and sample based synth software ($250). Featured in literally hundreds of films and TV shows. TBH, it's probably the coolest shit I own, IMHO.

Here's a couple of demos I did monkeying around with the software and some time lapse HD film...

/yes, this is supposed to be a guitar based thread (I did post some sampled guitar, BTW)
