Mine is boring too...it was a slogan of a radio station I grew up with (dare to be different) that defined my musical tastes to this day. I've used this handle, or some variation of it, most of my internet life.
"beme" for short :D

Here is a hint to finding the 4706 Code.

If you read all mine combines 3900+ posts in here and ESPN you would have a much easier time finding out. But good look. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Darkstone42...

Well, shortly before I started posting on ESPN to ask questions about baseball on the Pittsburgh Pirates message board (humble beginnings, I know), one of my basketball coaches called me Darkstone as a joke. Nobody actually got the joke, and we're all fairly certain we misheard it, but they all thought it was pretty funny anyway, so it became a nickname for me for the rest of my sophomore year. It was replaced by "Stoner" which I was dubbed by my out-of-the-loop special teams coach the following football camp. He had no idea he had tagged me as a pothead with that nickname.

Other nicknames I've had include Coffeeshop, due to my freshman year Spanish teacher remembering a coffee shop that shared its name with my last name, Mr. BS, from an English/Religion teacher picking up on the fact that I was very skilled at writing intelligently about things of which I had no knowledge (let your minds wander on my hockey and science knowledge, and then allow them to settle on the fact that I do, indeed, know what I'm talking about), Stonewall, Stone King, Papa [my last name] -- a play on the fact that I have three littles and three grandlittles in my fraternity -- and various other things.

The 42 is from Douglas Adams's The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Well about 7 or 8 years ago I was playing some wrestling game at a friends place on Playstation or XBox (1 of those. I'm not really that into video games). There was a feature where you created your own wrestler and gave him a name. I randomly came up with this one. The first name might have been inspired by the Trailer Park Boys. I ended up setting up an online poker account later that night which I would use often so eventually when it became time to set up an account on "the swamp", I figured it be easier to remember if I just kept using the same name.

You guys can't imagine what real bullshit is like. Google Carl Brashear or watch Men Of Honor starring Robert Deniro. My life sucks.

I gave you more credit and assumed you did that on purpose for effect :)

The funny thing is that you guys are probably assuming the wrong misspelling....

I was trying to type "I am not so smart"....a line from the swamp, not "I am not too smart"....

...so see it is funny in layers....

mattola - Matt = ola - my name is obviously Matt... puckhead knows it to be true..... my secret identity is no more..

the ola part came from a bunch of greeks I worked for back in my bartending days. one of them told me that Mattola is similar to a greek word Matuel (bad spelling/phonetics) or something like that. if you can figure it out I can tell the story of why :)
