So; who else got out to see The World's End?

For the most part I enjoyed it: However...

I found the epilogue/aftermath/whatever you want to call it to the main story completely hokey & unnecessary. I also thought that the scene where the main character's back story is finally fully laid out was overwrought.

I saw it on Saturday. The epilogue did seem a bit unnecessary, though I did love it when the Cornetto wrapper finally showed up.

Didn't have an issue with the full backstory on the King though. Will have to watch it again when it comes out on DVD though, because I know that with Hot Fuzz it was so well and deeply written that there was a lot of stuff that I missed on first watch.

I enjoyed this regarding Ben Affleck (from Bill Simmons):

Q: Since you blindly defend everything Boston, what's your defense for Ben Affleck ruining the Batman franchise? I know you have one!
—Chris, Scarsdale, NY

SG: I don't have a defense, more of a theory. On the face of it, Affleck taking a massive risk like this makes no sense whatsoever. He just spent the past six years rebuilding his career, reestablishing himself as an A-lister and completing one of the greatest comebacks in Hollywood history.

But here's the thing …

I don't think it was enough for him. I think he's still in "Eff You" mode from all the abuse he took during the Bennifer era, for people writing him off, and for the Academy not giving him that Best Director nomination for Argo. And obviously, he's been on fire with career decisions for the last few years and feels like he can't do anything wrong. So this is part hubris and part "Eff You" — Affleck knew taking that Batman part would be polarizing, he knew he didn't need it financially or professionally, and he didn't care. If he pulls it off, now it's not just one of the great Hollywood comebacks ever, it's THE GREATEST Hollywood comeback ever.

So really, this is the Hollywood equivalent of the 2007 Pats trying to go 19-0 post-Spygate. Ben Affleck is trying to run up the score on us right now. How can you not respect him for this? We'll be back on The Best Blind Boston Defense I Could Come Up With after these messages.

Apparently he is obsessed with Superman and Elvis. He named his son Kal-El aka Superman.

yeah I heard that. he also said that he actually walked away from the superman project as he didnt think he would do it the justice it deserved and it would be unfair to the character and his fans. I have to respect that. They really wanted him as Superman at the time. there were some CRAZY ideas for what he was going to be rebooted as

I saw that one and agree that it was pretty enjoyable.

Thirded! Nice little spin on a typical zombie film. Loved Rob Corddry in it.

This movie looks really good, but Tom Hanks is being type cast as "guy stuck at sea."

not a movie but whatevs

cant wait to see the James Franco roast

We Went There: Jeff Ross's Scorched-Earth Brilliance at James Franco's Celebrity Roast - Hollywood Prospectus Blog - Grantland

A Ross joke I don't expect will make the telecast: "Face it, Franco, you and Anne Hathaway had the comedic chemistry of Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman."

He began by one-upping Silverman's Apatow's-balls joke from earlier, commending Franco and his buddies on playing themselves so convincingly in This Is the End. "How did you guys get into character on set?" he asked. "Did they pass out smoothies that taste like Judd Apatow's asshole?" It got rougher from there. On Jonah Hill: "When Jonah heard that Quentin Tarantino wanted him to be in his spaghetti Western, he said 'You had me at spaghetti.'" On Sarah Silverman, who's gotten into trouble by joking about abortion: "Maybe your initials are S.S. because you've killed more baby Jews than the Nazis." On Franco's grandma, who was near the front row: "127 hours is how long she has left." On Stephen Merchant, whom Ross spotted while looking for Franco's grandma, and who was also, oddly, near the front row: "Are you saving a seat for Ricky Gervais?" He called Franco "Johnny Depp with lupus" and a disgrace to Italian American actors. "James Gandolfini must be trying to roll over in his grave," he said, to a chorus of boos.

Coming in 2014, another remake of an awesome movie that doesn't need to be remade.

i think they could have just did a continuation of it. say he was mothballed as his hardware was out dated but his software was still solid. so they upgraded him to what you see in that trailer. they sure have a stellar cast for it.

I guess it will depend how close they stick to the original. If they try to remake it, it will suck. If they go a significantly different route like the new Total Recall, it will probably still suck, but at least it won't be because it tried too hard to re-do the original.

the new Recall wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be. its a lose/lose on both movies if they try to do it either way. I think you continue the movies as sequels but you cant remake either recall or robocop the way those movies were so over the top were way to good. that being said there is a whole new set of eyes that have no idea what those first 2 were so they can do this.

That's why you don't do crappy remakes.
