I don't know anything about other states, but in Virgina, if you don't pass your SOL, you don't pass the class....you're shit out of luck!

for us i remember we had to sit in class rooms by alphabetical order and teachers would try to do everything just to make everyone concentrate and pass. i do not think they effected your grades or anything. i think i did pretty well on them though so i would not have failed either way. i think the toughest part is just not getting bored and filling in bubbles just to finish. we got a half day during those tests so that was pretty cool.

Haha, it can be. I'm not going to lie, sitting around doing problems and derivations isn't particularly exciting, but working in the lab on actual research projects can be fun. I'm having a ton of fun at my job in a lab so far this year. Today I quantified the concentrations of DNA and RNA sequence solutions with a temperature control spectrometer, and then prepared a stock solution of pH 7 cacodylate buffer. It's just neat that I very well may get published before the summer's end.
