Five dollar footlongs now being 14 dollars probably has something to do with it. I mean, for five bucks, I'll let someone else make me a sammich. For 14, I can put lunch meat on bread myself.

the quality is so below and the way the franchises skimp on ingredients is not worth the money.

they are not that good of subs for what we are paying (neither are quiznos)

Quiznos? I haven’t thought of them in 15 years, they closed all the ones around here, but I liked them much better than Subway

I still haven’t tried Jersey Mike’s, but they do look good

we do not have jersey mikes here.

we have quiznos and subway and that is pretty much it with a few independant ones around

Blimpies was another one around here that died out. They were awful

kinda tangent but I recently saw a thing on reddit where people online order Subway subs ... go to pick up at the mobile order section of the counter and they are gone ... stolen

the reddit post specifically mentioned a subway location very close to my sons high school and people guessed it was the high school kids doing it at lunchtime. I asked my son if he ever heard of this and he said nope as he ate his footlong sweet onion chicken teriyaki

Wawa and Royal Farm Stores are two things I miss about Maryland. Cheap food that isn't garbage.

Quizno's pushed hard into my area (excuse me?) 15-20 years ago. One even opened up about half mile from me for about 3 months. They are all gone from here now.

Jersey Mikes - fine, decent chain.
Jimmy Johns - best I can say is its better than Subway. Plus I wont go because I dont like the owner
Potbelly - not bad but not cheap and they really skimp on the meat. If you want the same amount of sandwich you get at other places, you better order 'extra meat' then your looking at a $15 sandwich
Royal Farm - my wife likes them, I cannot go because a bad one was near my childhood home and I cannot shake those memories
WaWa - when I went there working at an away site I was pleasantly surprised. One is real close to me but I never think of it because half gas station - half sandwich shop places kind of creep me out (Blimpies are gone from here but were like that and were awful)
