In a roundabout way, this almost happened. I found a vulnerability in a site and a corresponding dark web post taking credit for it. I told the company and they blew me off. 6 months later, they had a well publicized breach disclosure and fired a lot of their security staff. Their CISO responded to my email where I reported it and asked if I was looking for a job.

I laughed in a most professional manner and politely told him bite my shiny metal butt.

Funny thing about Hall and Oates, I don't think I appreciated them as much when I was younger as I do now. I mean, I enjoyed their music, but now looking back that was really good stuff they put out.

I'm sure it won't translate here but 15-20 years ago my wife and I were in a restaurant and a Hall And Oates song came on. She didn't know / remember what Oates first name was. I was distracted or heard the question wrong and said Darryl. She gasped and said far too loud for where we were "there names are Darryl Hall and Darryl Oates?". Struck me as funny and the next ten minutes people were looking at me because I couldn't stop laughing.
