Well, well..... I suppose we've worked our way off the bubble. Assuming we don't choke against Memphis.

Oh...and told ya so about Tulsa. So what if I haven't predicted a loss in 15 years. Disregard that.

I could see the committee punishing the American so they could let 7 crappy Big 10 teams in the dance..... They pull that shit every year. That's why I think it's important to win Sunday.

This^^ Just look at SMU a year ago as an example. UConn ended up winning the whole thing and was relegated to a 7 seed.

UC this year and SMU last year are two different stories. SMU last year lost their last 3 games. They went 3-4 down the stretch. The non-conference schedule wasn't good enough, and they had zero good non-conference wins. While they did beat several ranked teams inside the conference, it wasn't nearly enough when they fell apart down the stretch.

UC's non-conf schedule is solid. They've won 4 in a row, 3 on the road, and even if they were to lose at home against Memphis, they will have gone 4-1 down the stretch winning all the most important games (no sub 100RPI losses, win @Tulsa).

They have 6 RPI top 50 wins, and 3 RPI top 50 road wins.

They are in. Losing against Memphis might slide them down in the seeding, but it won't knock them out.

Memphis will probably be without Nichols as well, which would be a huge boost for UC.

This team is on fire. This could be a Sweet 16 year. We'll decide for sure after I see the matchup.

I don't think this team is a sweet 16 team...maybe next year, but if a guard gets hot enough, they certainly have the interior defense/offense to make a run. Matchup, as always, is key.

Also, this year is a success no matter what. This was going to be a rebuilding year. You lose SK, JJ, and Rubles. That was over 60% of the offense, and 60% of the rebounds. You bring in 7 new players. You start 2 sophomores, and one true freshman, and a JUCO who's most D-I experience was swingin' on Kevin Fry from the bench area. The lone returning player to start was Shaq Thomas. Add in a decent non-conference schedule, and then losing Cronin just 10 games into the season. Really, what this team was able to accomplish was nothing short of amazing. The team work by the players and coaches was off the charts (even if I wanted to kill Larry Davis about 1,242 times).

Another 20 win year, another NCAA berth. The drum keeps on beating, and UC just keeps marching on. Dare I say, UC is getting into 'reload' and not 'rebuild' territory? Next few signing classes are shaping up nicely as well.

In the meant time, this team should have earned a lot of respect this year.

Also, Gary Clark is a F'ing stud.

The kid rolls out of bed and lands into nearly a double double a game as a true freshman, and plays outstanding defense as well. The kid has a chance to be an All-American. Just the change in his body from his Senior year in H.S. to this year shows you how dedicated he is, and how seriously he already takes everything. He's a monster in waiting. If he adds a 10-13 foot jumper to his offensive game, who will be able to guard him?

All in all, pretty good for a rebuilding year. Third in the conference, and 3-0 vs the two teams that finished above them. Would have been the reg season conference winner if not for the debacles at East Carolina and home vs Tulane, but things like that aren't unexpected with a really young team, especially one who played their last 22 games without their head coach. They got hot at the right time of the year, and hopefully can win the conference tournament. They're certainly good enough to win it. I still expect one and done in the dance because they'll almost certainly draw a team who can score. They always do.

They'll be playing Purdue in an 8/9 matchup.

And if they are fortunate enough to win that one they get Kentucky. The tournament committee hates us,

Hypothetical question:

If the Bearcats were to upset Kentucky in the second round, would the city still exist or would it be burned down? Both by insanely happy Bearcat fans and suicidal Kentucky fans.

I'd put the chances at less than 1%, but how awesome would an upset be here?

Don't think my heart could take it. More likely Purdue beats us.
