Thanks. I just can't believe it. I can't believe that just happened. I couldn't even tell you what one of the hits that the Cardinals had in the 9th looked like.

And why the fuck was Edwin Jackson EVER... FUCKING EVER EVER EVER in that game or ANY game in this series? He has sucked ass for a month and a half. After getting shelled in game 3... which he NEVER EVER EVER should have been the starter for... why is he in the game tonight? Why did Davey leave Gio in so long? Why not spell Storen when he's struggling?

I just honestly don't believe that just happened. Up 6-0 after the 3rd on a cold night and you let that team sneak back in. I had a terrible angle on the plate, but I don't know what the fuck that umpire was doing tonight. We were joking in our section that ankles to knees was the new strike zone. Never seen a catcher not move in an inch so often on balls being called.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

I CANNOT believe it. I just didn't expect that to happen tonight. I hate being a DC sports fan. We get raped over and over. And not just regular losses, but SPECTACULAR, MIND-BOGGLING losses. We are the Greg Norman of pro sports towns. Fuck.

I wouldn't put too much stock in anything I wrote last night. I was really drunk and mad as hell. And yes, my teams are choking dogs. It's fucking brutal. 3-1 series leads, late inning folds...I've seen it all, over and over and over again.

I know, all in fun... I can emphathize with how shitty i felt back in '92 when the Pirates choked against the Braves in the 9th inning of Game 7.

Last nights loss falls squarely on Davey Johnson. Like you said earlier, he left Gonzalez in too long. Jackson was only supposed to pitch if it went to extra innings and still he puts him out there.

Anyhow the Nats are built for the future and should be in good shape (barring injuries).

The Caps are the all-time hockey leaders in 3-1 collapses... and there are hockey teams that have been around for 50 years longer than them. I was at the 1997 ALCS when Mussina pitched a shutout and the O's lost to a Tony Fernandez homer that ended the game and the series in extra innings. I was at the ALCS in 2007 to witness the Tribe get beaten in what would start a 3-1 series comeback by the Sox. And last night, I saw my team blow a 2-run lead to get eliminated. My baseball memories are horrible. My playoff memories are horrible. It just fucking blows.

And I don't know - maybe the culmination of all those things - but I just...can't... believe it happened again. I'm still in total shock today.

I couldn't see last night from the angle i had, but the umpire seemed like he was doing a horrible job. Can they replace them with machines already? We were one pitch away from the game on several occasions. I can't believe it.

That has been Davey's one flaw all year. Leaving the pitchers out there too long. There was no tomorrow last night if we lost. You use everything at your disposal... except Edwin fucking Jackson.

He should have NEVER EVER FUCKING NEVER been in ANY of these games. Not starting. Not relieving. His arm was DONE a month ago. He had a 7.92 ERA in September. This should have been a 3-man rotation of Gio, Zimm, and Det from the start, and frankly, I would have used Detwiler twice. Then you use Jackson in the 2nd or 3rd game of the NLCS if you make it there to give those guys an extra night.

Davey made some very disappointing choices last night. And while Jackson didn't give up the winning run, the Cards kept the momentum up each inning and that builds confidence. We let them think they were still in it. That should have never happened. When a guy doesn't have his stuff, you get him out of there, right away.

The Cards actually made the same mistake with Wainwright early.

I didn't watch most of the 9th. I honestly don't remember it. It's all a blur. I knew we wouldn't score in the bottom. Just sat there in my seat staring at the ground, knowing what was coming... again. Knowing a DC team would let me down... again. And always in spectacular fashion.

On top of it all, I had to teach a training class at work today for 15 people. Hungover, no voice. It sucked. I'm exhausted. Going home to sleep now. No baseball tomorrow, not even any hockey tomorrow. Very sad.

I was listening to the radio yesterday and they were interviewing Lewis Black and he was talking about growing up in Silver Spring and how he was an O's fan and he really liked the Nats too. Big baseball fan.
