He is going to definitely need a jury of his "peers".....AKA OJ and Ray Lewis and not Rae Carruth.

This is big, big I tell you. When the smoke clears its evident this will involve the Christian right, the anti-gun lobby, and anti-immigration reform groups.

I saw a tweet yesterday that stated that since the year 2000 there have been 640 arrests involving NFL players (obviously some players have been arrested more than once).

It's just the man trying to keep these oppressed multi-millionaires down.

And, as the football fans I know always point out, hockey players aren't perfect. Patrick Kane punched a cabby in that time.

@TedDanielFOX25: BREAKING: According to law source Aaron Hernandez under investigation for possible connection to 2012 double murder

So...he was playing then. Cool. A little post-superbowl loss rage or something? Goodness gracious.

I am not saying that is not a lot, or that the NFL doesnt have a problem. However if those numbers are correct (I would have thought higher, but I guess its just because mosts arrests are at least attemped to be made into huge stories so it seems higher) it doesnt seem that out of control. That would average to 53 arrests a year, which is significant but there are almost 1700 players in the NFL. Again, if my math is correct that would be about 32 players a year in the league that get in trouble which doesnt seem so terrible to me.

Wonder if that 640 includes the times charges were dropped...with the Steelers alone I can think of about 5 cases within a few years. Ben twice, Santonio Holmes once, Chris Rainey once, that rookie NT who went on a drunk drive on the south side.

Aaron Hernandez is now officially a (incarcerated, yet) free agent as he has cleared waivers.

So, Goodell felt the need to send a letter out to all NFL GMs telling them not to claim him on waivers. Gosh that's sad. Apparently nothing can tarnish the image of the NFL...the product is too entertaining.

Definitive proof that you can be learning disabled and rich at the same time.

This can't be surprising to you, can it? They work very hard to defend it. Even spinning up marketing campaigns to convince us that Ray Lewis, Big Ben and Michael Vick are heroes.

I don't even think Goodell has to do damage control anymore. He can just sit back and let it all play out. People won't stop spending money on the league. Brent (Cowboys player who killed teammate in drunk driving) is currently in jail for a separate crime, but still on the Cowboys roster. Cleveland has a rookie who is under murder investigation, no NFL related punishment. Why are they allowed to be in the league? Goodell used to be harped on for having too much power (he DOES), but now he's not even using it. Ben was suspended 6 games and was never arrested. That's fine, I agreed with it, still do. But how in the world are these guys getting nothing but slaps on the wrist now? DUIs are serious business...not sure why the league acts like they're not. I have no respect for any franchise any longer. The Steelers can act all high and mighty, but they just pick and choose when to be "pure". Chris Rainey was gone without a second glance for a domestic dispute in which his girlfriend said it was overblown. Fine. Alamada T'amu had a DUI and apparently tried running over a cop on the southside. He was given a 2 game suspension (although he still has the law to answer to). Both were rookies last year. Santonio Holmes was traded for having weed. Ben was suspended six games after r*pe charges. I like the idea of second chances, but if you don't discipline appropriately after the first offence, they're not going to stop.
