only so much servais could do to stop the m's from sucking when decimated by injury right when they started playing much better teams more consistently. From Heyman at SI -
Seattle Mariners
One rival said he questions whether rookie manager Scott Servais knew what to do to stop their losing slide before it was too late. That may not be fair, but their fine start is all but gone now … Ketel Marte and Leonys Martin are back, but the Mariners season seemed to slip away when they went down, undermining the defense … No sign of a return for King Felix, so expect him to be out until after the All-Star break, a possibility reported here first … Mike Zunino is doing well in the minors. While he was rushed, he’s going to be a very good player.
it's the first year for a gm and manager dealing with the unmitigated organizational disaster jack z and nintendo left in their wake.
heyman couldn't possibly give less of a shit about baseball west of the rockies, so i don't care what he says to his idiot followers in his token bi-monthly paragraphs devoted to teams like ours.
zunino is going to be an everyday player for teams for a long time, and it's been more than a little frustrating seeing idiots on here slam him with misdirected anger. so heyman got one thing right, and it wasn't really very bold on his part, surprise. zunino is just now at a point where any competent organization would've just called him up for the first time.
