By Steve Adams [January 29, 2014 at 8:57am CST] 8:57am: Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports ([ame="[MEDIA=twitter]428538523675680769[/MEDIA]"]via Twitter[/ame]) that the O's signed the otherChad Tracy, who is the son of Jim Tracy and does not have big league experience. Tracy does not receive an intive to Spring Training.
The 28-year-old split last season between the Royals' Triple-A affiliate and the independent Atlantic League's York Revolution. A career .256/.332/.448 hitter at the Triple-A level, Tracy has experience at first base, in left field and at catcher. 8:14am: Corner infielder Chad Tracy has agreed to terms with the Orioles on a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training, according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun ([ame="[MEDIA=twitter]428528821432619008[/MEDIA]"]on Twitter[/ame]). Tracy is a client of Octagon.
Tracy, 34 in May, appeared in 92 games for the Nationals in 2013 and batted .202/.243/.326 in 136 plate appearances -- most of which came as a pinch-hitter. Though it was his worst season at the Major League level, Tracy batted a much more appealing .269/.343/.441 in a similar role with the Nats in 2012. The lefty swinger had a monster sophomore campaign with the D-Backs in 2005 when he belted 27 homers and slashed .308/.359/.553, but he's been unable to replicate that form in the eight subsequent seasons.
