Thought it would be a good time for a good old palette cleanser (IE...Domi getting leveled please disregard the Leafs Uni.)
Must protect this House...whatever the cost!
I am glad that the league making it clear what types of behavior they will not tolerate is making people re-think what they do.
Some funny posts in here lately but I'm not in a laughing mood over the developments in the last few days. I'm sickened.
As was said, the bed is made, and the bedbugs are insecticide resistant.
A trip back in time to see this debate 10 years ago...
Fighting... Place in the NHL or no? (Dash has a post that's sadly nearly identical to one from the last couple days)
Interesting to see how some have evolved or not. I'm trying to find another thread or two on it. We'll see.
You know what the saddest thing is to me, eloco?!? Gary Bettman, Bill Daly, and Colin Campbell are still part of the NHL executive. I mean, why should we be surprised that there has been little change in the last 10-11 years?
True story - think you've identified the problem. Number of commissioners by sport...
Baseball - 10
Football - 5
Basketball - 5
Hockey - 1
Is that since Bettman began commissioner of the NHL way back in 1992?
Because we all either played the game or enjoy the game enough to try to ignore the things that are wrong with the league.Still the only league to lose an entire season due to labo(u)r strife. A league that has had a combination of four strikes/lockouts during his tenure. A league that arbitrarily decides to punish teams for violating the "spirit" of a CBA that both sides agreed to. A league that has rules that decides games via 3-on-3 OT and then a shoot-out during the regular season and then tosses that away for the playoffs (what other league does that?). A league that has officials that call penalties not by players breaking rules, but dictated mainly by the score (aka game management). A league that allows teams to hide players via LTIR in order to keep them (I mean, why have a salary cap if you're going to allow teams to flaunt the cap?).
It makes me wonder why I continue to follow this league - I must be a glutton for punishment.

It's the League that leaves a lot to be desired. And there really aren't a lot of choices. Not like becoming a fan of Liiga is a reasonable option.
of course
Yeah, I thought at least 2-3 for sure. And this in my opinion is light punishment for what Buch did.
CFL is hopefully starting in mid-August. ATP and WTA tennis along with footy are getting the majority of my viewing time these days.
Don't despair, Dash. Tiger will be back and healthy before you know it!![]()
